KeeWeb – Michael Dewald Fork is an independent fork of the open-source password manager KeeWeb by Antelle and the KeeWeb contributors. It is maintained independently by Michael Dewald and is not an official KeeWeb release.

What the fork does differently

  1. Its own update channel

    Updates come from this fork’s download site, not from official KeeWeb. An update downloads only after you agree and is checked against its SHA-256 checksum before it is installed.

  2. Touch ID adjustments

    KeeWeb’s Touch ID quick unlock is adjusted for this fork’s signed macOS builds, for example how the window is focused before the prompt and how keys that became invalid are recovered.

  3. Signed builds for Apple silicon

    The download is a disk image signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple, for Macs with Apple silicon.

Good to know

  • There are only builds for Apple silicon, none for Intel Macs, Windows or Linux.
  • YubiKey is not supported in this fork: the app does not detect connected YubiKeys, neither for challenge-response unlock nor for YubiKey one-time codes.
  • The fork does not replace an official KeeWeb update and is not updated from there.
